Ready? Set? Count!

Butterfly Conservation's Big Butterfly Count is now underway, and we're excited to discover which species will be counted the most.

Last year, the top five butterflies in the count were:

Gatekeeper

Meadow Brown

Large White

Small White

Peacock

Will the same five butterflies appear at the top of the leaderboard again, or will there be some surprises? You can let us know by taking part!

It's easy to take part

Taking part in the Big Butterfly Count only takes 15 minutes of your time but that can help to make a huge difference. Simply follow the below steps to submit your counts between 18 July - 10 August.

1. Download the mobile app or sign in through the website
2. Find a sunny spot
3. Spend 15 minutes counting butterflies & moths
4. Record what species you see & how many there are

Please ensure you upgrade the app to the latest version to ensure full functionality.
